How to Create an Intentional Morning Routine

How to Create and Intentional Morning Routine.png

Starting and cultivating an intentional morning routine during this time of social distancing and self-quarantining can be difficult.

However, actively setting a routine that's focused on you and your needs to help you navigate the day is essential during these times.

Before having an intentional morning, the early hours of the day were a struggle for me, and it was very difficult for me to set boundaries. Now that I’ve been wanting to get more out of my days and do actions that would help me be in the correct mental space to achieve my daily goals, I knew that having an intentional morning routine was necessary.

Read on to see the helpful tips that have helped me have an intentional morning routine.

MOVE YOUR BODY

Now more than ever, most of us are stuck at our desks and a great way to kick off our days is by moving our bodies with physical activities.

It doesn’t have to be a two-hour workout. It can be whatever your body needs, and that can be a 15-minute jump rope session, running while you listen to Ellas, walking a mile, or even rollerblading!

If you don’t have 15 minutes to spare, then just stretching your body for a couple of minutes is a great way to start to increase your energy.

BREAKFAST

Eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives you the energy and sustenance you need for whatever activities lay ahead!

This time is for you to indulge in a delicious meal!

My go-to favorite breakfast meals have been:

  • Pinole chia oatmeal from The Pinole Project with raspberries, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, or blackberries.

  • Turkey ham sandwich with cranberry sauce, lettuce, and mayonnaise

  • Spinach omelet sandwich with pepper jack cheese with green chile

 GRATITUDE

Writing down in my journal the three things I am grateful for has helped me shift my mindset.

Not only does it remind me how fortunate I am, but it also helps me embrace the day and be excited for what’s to come.

In the last blog I wrote, I shared 3 things I was grateful for, and I want to share three new things!

It’s all about the little things in life, and you must start with small actions if you’re finding it difficult to set an intentional morning routine.

An intentional morning routine is what you make of it, what fuels you to move with energy and excitement. For me, it’s moving my body, eating a delicious breakfast, and writing down my gratitudes. And if that changes in the future it’s okay because my needs will evolve, and that’s normal. Do not beat yourself up if that happens. It’s all about allowing yourself to evolve and grow while you're paving our journey.

I would love it if you share with me your intentional morning routine in the comments below!
